Daniella Vargas looked through the clothes used in the Hope Tent Saturday.
She found a few things for her two girls and collected non-perishable food for the value of a week of meals.
"We need help," she said. "It's nice for someone to help you."
Vargas was among the nearly 300 people who visited the tent hoping the church door open on Miller Street. They received free clothing, haircuts, food and advice on money management.
