While the Coast Guard's many battles at sea in the War on Drugs are widely known, its participation in the ground offensive is not. Indeed, the Guard didn't just send its cutters to interdict narcotics-laden vessels attempting to bring their illicit cargo into Uncle Sam's territorial waters, it sent ground troops to foreign lands to train their forces and, when necessary, directly engage the enemy. But to create the type of force needed was no small task and would not be without tribulation, both from within and outside the organization. The road traveled to complete the mission was laden with obstacles. This is not a story about the Coast Guard you know, or think you know. DETROIT - Two people whose boat capsized during the annual Chicago to Mackinac Island Race was found "unresponsive" by the rescue divers, the Coast Guard said Monday, hours after six others who were on board were saved.
Master John Masson government with the Coast Guard office in Cleveland said he is not qualified to make calls on whether boaters were alive or dead. The names of the sailors were not released.
A team of diving Charlevoix County recovered two boaters about eight hours after the reports of the boat, Wingnuts, had changed.Another boat in the race, sociable, notified the authorities that the 35-foot sailboat had been overthrown and the other six crew members aboard, the Coast Guard said.

Coast Guard Suspends Search For Missing Marshfield Man « CBS Boston

MARSHFIELD (CBS) – The Coast Guard has suspended its search for a missing boater near Marshfield .
23-year-old Zac Woods fell into the water near the Brant Rock section of town Saturday night after the boat he was riding in hit a jetty.
Woods’s friend, 22-year-old Justin McDonald, was driving the boat. Investigators say he was drunk.
McDonald was arrested and later released on $10,000 bail.
