The road connects Downtown Calgary from the Langevin Bridge and the 4th Street Bridge at Memorial Drive with north-central Calgary. Between 6th Avenue North and Trans-Canada Highway (and to a lesser degree up to 24 Avenue North), Edmonton Trail is lined with restaurants and retail businesses.The road is the remnant of the southern terminus of the Calgary and Edmonton Trail, a land transport route between the fur trading posts of Fort Edmonton and Fort Calgary, used as far back as the early 1800. The more modern trail was blazed by John Alexander McDougall in 1873 as far as Morley and extended to Calgary two years later. With every week that passes through the 2011 season, the Edmonton Eskimos have reached further into their past.

A 33-17 victory over the British Lions at Commonwealth Stadium Saturday led the Eskimos unbeaten at 3-0 for the first time since 2002.

"I do not imagine that 3-0 is the way these guys have played and done," Eskimos "Kavis Reed said of the beginning of his career as head coach. "But I am very pleased that we have on the books right now."

While the Eskimos defense allowed just one performance by the Lions quarter Travis Lulay in the first quarter and the first three half-first trials, they have allowed British Columbia to move up in the second half.

Some trails re-open, Louise McKinney Park Promenade ready

Several river valley trails remain closed due to wet conditions, but this week’s warmer weather led to the opening of the Louise McKinney Park Promenade five weeks ahead of schedule.
